Timothy Verstraeten graduated as BSc in Computer Science at the University of Antwerp in 2013, and as MSc in Computer Science with a specialisation in Artificial Intelligence at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2015. He obtained his PhD degree at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in March 2021. Currently, he works as a post-doctoral researcher at the Artificial Intelligence Lab and Acoustics and Vibration Research Group.
In his PhD project, he focussed on the application of reinforcement learning in wind farm control, exploiting fleet-wide data exchange and loosely-coupled coordination among wind turbines to speed up the control learning process.
His research topics include reinforcement learning, multi-armed bandits, transfer learning, Gaussian processes, and wind farm control.
