After obtaining his Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2021, Senne started working for Siemens Digital Industries Software Leuven as a research engineer associate. Building further on expertise acquired in his studies, he investigated the usage of Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) as a tool to automatically generate controllers in the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology for mechatronic systems.
In 2023, Senne joined the VUB AI Lab as a PhD student supervised by Prof. Dr. Ann Nowé on the CTRLxAI project. The objective: improve both interpretability and explainability of the black-box nature of DRL agents in pursuit of bridging the gap between RL and traditional controller design.
