Since February 2025, Joost Vennekens is a professor at the AI Lab of Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Before joining VUB, he was a professor at Campus De Nayer of KU Leuven university, where his research focused on applications of AI technology, in particular using the IDP-Z3 reasoning engine for the FO(.) language for several applications in the manufacturing sector.
His current research interests are focused on Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, (Neuro-)Symbolic Reasoning and Causality. He also likes to pursue interdisciplinary collaborations.
