I am a joint PhD candidate at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Université de Namur, under the supervision of Prof. Paul Van Eecke and Prof. Katrien Beuls. I am a member of HERMES research group.
My research investigates how discrete communicative structure can emerge from continuous vocal signals. I use agent-based language games in which speakers produce and perceive articulatory-acoustic forms, asking how populations coordinate stable form-meaning conventions when the signal space is continuous rather than symbolic. A broader goal is to understand what kinds of structure emerge in vocal lexicons from repeated local interaction.
