Drama workshop

coordinated by Katrien Beuls
In this atelier we will stage some crucial scenes of Shakespeare's famous comedy The Taming of the Shrew that evoke different interpretations depending on the emotions that are put into each role. The play contains contemporary themes such as gender relations, love and money, role and social status. A modern translation in plain English will be provided to ease the access to the 16th-century play, although the original texts can also be used if preferred. Using techniques for breathing, resonance and articulation, participants will learn how to use their voice effectively to reach and inspire the public. We will also work on physical expression and how to interact with others to create a harmony on stage that becomes contagious. But above all, it will be fun!
