Eat & Drink Brussels
Here we present a few suggestions:
Restaurants (nice, affordable and central)
Rue des Chartreux 9 (in the center, right next to Greenwich where we are having the conference dinner).
Cousin: Belgium
Be there early, it gets busy, so you will have to wait in the line to get a table, no reservations, not a good idea to go in a big group.
Sint-Katelijnestraat 26
Cousin: all you can eat ribs, plus some other thing
Rue Ste Catherine 45
Cousin: Seafood place
More like a kiosk, you get your food and eat it standing outside on the high tables. Not open for dinner, just lunch.
Rue des Grands Carmes 10
Cuisine: Etiopian
Sint-Katelijneplein 4
Cousin: Gourmet burgers
Rue Antoine Dansaert 20
Cuisine: Moroccan
Friteries (places to get typical Belgium fries – sometimes incorrectly called French fries :-) )
- The best places are usually not in the central pentagon. The two places which are the most often pronounced the best fries in Brussels are:
Place Jourdan 1 (Etterbeek)
Frit Flagey
Place Eugène Flagey (Ixelles)
- However there are some places in the center which sometimes end up on the lists of the best fries:
Henri Maus Straat 49, De Beurs (next to the Stock exchange building)
Friterie Tabora
Address: rue Tabora 2 (very close to Fritland)
Fritkots at the place de la Chapelle
Place de la Chapelle (next to the church Notre-Dame de la Chapelle)
Bars
Impasse de la Fidélité 4 (next to the statue of Jeanneke Pis)
Have more then 2000 types as recorded in the The Guinness Book of Records.
Rue Montagne-aux-Herbes Potagères 7
Rue du Chêne 5 (next to Manneken Pis)
Fontainasplein 8
- Off the beaten track (more normal bars, which still have nice atmosphere and large list of beers, usually not too crowded)
Visverkopersstraat / Rue des Poissonniers 21
Café Merlo
Quai aux Briques 80, next to Sainte-Catherine
