Hypothesis |
We do not assume that meanings are innate
nor that words are simply labels for pre-existing
meanings. We also do not assume that meanings
and words are learned by progressive
induction from examples. Instead, we follow
a Wittgensteinian language game approach:
Words and meanings are constructed and
negotiated stepwise through interactions
situated and grounded in the environment.
Language is a complex adaptive system that
self-organises and evolves driven by the
distributed local interactions of language
users. |
