Introduction

The purpose of this report is to provide an example of a CommonKads design model [Van de Velde et al., 1993]. Although it not evaluates the values and qualities of the design model itself, it can sure be helpful in the discussion about what should be in a design model and where and how should it be represented.

To achieve this goal we investigated a scheduling task in the crew scheduling department of Sabena. Previous analysis of this task was already done in [Duursma, 1993]. For reasons of clarity we included a brief summary of the task and communication model that were developed in the latter paper. Elaborating this task analysis resulted in the construction an expertise model and finally the required design model.
