P&R applied to diagnosis

It is not common to apply the propose and revise RLM on diagnosis. Applying P&R to diagnosis means that we are actually designing a system that has the same behaviour as the malfunctioning device. This seems a possible approach but not highly applicable due to the domain organisation requirements. A second problem is that there are several solutions for designing a deviating system using deviating components. When a solution has been found it is not sure whether this actually reflects the state of the the dagnosed system. Still the approach has some value when the problem is sufficiently constrained, for instance in order to check whether a cause found in another way is in fact able to produce such behaviour. But in this case more efficient simulation techniques could also be applied.
