Case models
Here the case model represents the states that the problem
solver will go through while working on the problem.
- In C&D the intermediate case models (states) represent
explanations that cover the initial symptoms. The explanations have
different degrees of confirmation by the available symptoms (i.e.
their required or enabling symptoms have not been requested or are
not available) and have different depths of explanatory connections.
- The initial case model (start state) represents the
explanation that covers the the initial symptoms.
- The solution case model (end state) represents an
explanation that fulfils the initial requirements and intermediate
constraints, and has no explanatory connections.
- The case user input data is a set of symptoms necessary to
differentiate the covering explanations.
