Luc Steels has been awarded the 2018 Francqui Chair

Luc Steels was invited for the Francqui Chair by the Linguistics Research Unit of the KULeuven. The prestigious Francqui Chairs are awarded each year by the Francqui Foundation and facilitate inter-university dialogue by enabling prominent Belgian and international academics to deliver a 10-hour lecture series at a nominating Belgian university.

The inaugural lecture, titled 'Het enigma van taalevolutie', will take place today 17 April in Leuven at 4pm.

The last lecture, on the 3rd of May, will be followed by a performance of the AI opera Fausto, written by Luc Steels and Oscar Vilarroya.
